What kind of creative could you be if you could see the whole picture?

When you look at finished, published stories, poems, illustrations…

that book you wonder if you could ever write…

You’re only seeing the tip of the iceberg.

Beneath all beautiful writing a depth, a creative process.

  • The creative play, the experiments,

  • The way we change with each story we write,

  • The unfolding realization that we’re not “just” practicing and playing, we’re turning ourselves into writers, one poem, one collage, one story at a time,

  • And that secret creative ingredient…

The Support of a Creative Community.

Hi, I’m Trisha.

I started this writing community because…

Once upon a time, a small group of multilingual creatives began writing together…and we realized we didn’t want to stop.

I’m a writer and writing coach, an immigrant who writes in 2 languages…and is dabbling in a third.

I know that the adventure of writing in many languages is a lifelong journey.

And as much as I love dreaming up reading and writing inspiration and sparking meaningful, creative conversations? I know our group has a secret power that doesn’t come from me:

This community has always been a collaboration.

Every time we show up and write alongside each other we create a unique space where we can…

  • write past fear and uncertainty,

  • forge meaning in our experiences,

  • find inspiration in so many surprising places,

  • tell our stories,

  • celebrate our victories,

  • and transform ourselves into the creatives and writers we are.

If you’ve already heard all about us, and you just know this place feels like ‘home’ to you, I’d love to welcome you during our next opening.

And if you’re just finding us?

Read on and get to know the place better….

We’re a close-knit group with meaningful discussions.

  • We’re a small community—which means? Deeper conversations, more trust…and lots of fun.

  • We take the time to get to know each other and write alongside each other.

  • And many of us enjoy meeting up for monthly live, writing workshops and monthly book chats on Zoom.

I love our group meetings, it’s great to see everyone once a month and listen to their thoughts. I am often surprised and happy to hear about their great ideas and it helps me in my own process as well… Also, I love that we’re always trying something new...new styles, new techniques, new formats which makes a lot easier for me to get engaged.

If you’re willing to find a cozy and friendly community where you can be creative, learn and write about what matters to you here is the right place!

We’re a community that knows you need to create—quietly.

We’re here to exchange, deepen our creative process, and support each other.

We also need to be in a distraction-free zone so we can…create!

That’s why we meet in a small, private forum away from social media.

Our conversations are meaningful and to the point so you can come in, gather inspiration, share your process…

and then log off and write something beautiful.

How much creative inspiration you need each month? You decide.

We believe in the radical notion that creativity comes from a place of rest, and nourishment. This is not a boot camp.

Some of the kinds of creative fun we get into in the Tip of the Iceberg Writing Community (including collage, blackout and printable writing prompts)

  • Each month you’ll find new inspiration for creative reading, creative journaling and creative writing.

  • We work with a ‘menu of options’ mindset. YOU decide which creative invitations suit you best and how much you can do this month.

  • Find your inspiration organized within the forum topics.

  • Print/download creative inspiration so you can go off to your favorite offline space and write/collage and create away.

  • Stop back and share your process, your tiny victories and deepen the conversation.

Have fun creating, playing and collaborating…you’ll be surprised how much you get done.

We have so much fun, we forget how hard we’re working… and finish some amazing writing.

You never have to publish your work around here.

But if you want to, we also have a literary publication on Medium…and people in our community and writing workshops have created some beautiful things…

Elena has been writing with us for a year now.

I recently applied for a freelance writing job that required a sample test to make sure I would be a good fit for the project. While writing the sample article, I kept in mind the tips and techniques I learned through these months in the writing community about capturing the tangible, the sensual details of a place or situation. Not only did I get excellent feedback, but I was chosen to start working on the project straight away! I was surprised and happy about being able to transfer these new skills from a personal to a professional situation, and from English to my native Italian.

Whether you like to write just for yourself or you need some support for a professional project, I think this group has a lot to give you. The creative activities are enjoyable on their own, a perfect way to take some playtime for yourself at the end of the day or when you need a break. I found them to be also a good tool for self-reflection, to unexpectedly discover things about myself in a lighthearted way. In time, I realised how I have been changing and growing as a writer thanks to this group and how the skills and ideas I learned here can be transferred to my other languages and to completely different writing projects. Being surrounded by other people who also have a busy life but make time in it for writing is also helpful: it both inspires me and gives the chance to try someone else's practical strategies to fit writing into my days.

What if I’ve always wanted to write but I’m not sure I can do this yet…

Creative undertakings can feel scary when you star them.

If your English is at least at an intermediate level and you can comfortably read a story or book, you can do this.

If you have always wanted to write, (in any language) but don’t know how to start, you can also do this.

But sometimes it’s hard to see our own potential—we doubt ourselves. So if that’s you and you want to make sure that no writer’s block or self-doubt will stop you…and that you never find yourself staring at a blank screen in panic?

You may want to consider starting your journey with This Story Starts Underground.

It’s a month-long program within a cozy corner of the same small writing community—and it’s a great place to get started.

What if I’ve got a very specific writing project in mind? Is this for me?

People in our community have written and are writing, books, short stories, collections of their work, teaching programs, newsletters, blogs…

Many of them are working with me on their next creative project. If you’re hoping to keep growing as a creative writer, keep yourself sharp, stay creative or even gain ideas for your own teaching? This group is the place for you.

But if you want to work with me closely on a specific project? You should get in touch with the form below. I want to make sure you’re in the right place before you begin.
